Organisatie Omschrijving

At The Conscious Club we are responding to this rise in global consciousness that is calling out for a more spiritual and sustainable lifestyle. We've created a sacred space, a transformational learning and lifestyle center to awaken mind, body and spirit. We offer various ongoing activities (such as yoga and meditation), training programs and workshops, alongside special gatherings throughout the year. Our vision is to raise spiritual and environmental consciousness and create space for individual and collective transformation. We wish to empower people to discover and share their natural gifts. We aim to be an ever flowing resource of wisdom and inspiration, connecting people on all levels.

Hoe wij aan de SDG's werken

Although The Conscious Club is new to using the Sustainable Development Goals framework, we feel that our work strongly resonates with several SDGs. Specifically, SDG4 - Quality Education. This year we launched the #THECONSCIOUSCHALLENGE - a campaign for awareness and change, focusing on the 10 most important topics of our time. We value education for sustainable lifestyles, and our passion and sharing of this mindset falls under target 4.7.

The Conscious Club was built on the backbone of SDG12 – Responsible Production and Consumption. The physical building was built using organic building materials, and our furniture has been upcycled (12.5). What we can’t upcycle we purchase from socially and environmentally responsible companies (such as our yoga gear). Our suppliers are organic and sustainably certified, and all the food served is vegetarian or vegan. We have a strict waste separation and recycling system, and recently have created a partnership with a wormhotel so we can compost our organic food waste (12.3). We look forward to continuing to expand our definition of Responsible Production and Consumption and pushing more of our processes towards circularity (such as growing herbs we use in the kitchen with our own compost).

The issue of climate change (SDG 13) is highly important to us; tackling this issue we became the first public climate neutral canal house in Amsterdam. We aim to be an example of a showcase of a new sustainable future and show other businesses that going climate neutral is not only possible, but also beautiful (13.3).
