Breda University of Applied Sciences is a knowledge institute with some 7,000 students from over 100 countries. It is situated in Breda, The Netherlands. We prepare students for management-level positions in an international setting in the disciplines of Games, Media, Hotel, Facility, Logistics, Built Environment, Tourism and Leisure & Events.
At Breda University of Applied Sciences, the combination of state-of-the-art education, relevant research, and cooperation with international businesses ensures that our students earn more than just a degree. We understand the needs and demands of local, national, and international organisations. Employer engagement is incorporated into our curricula. Our students develop the relevant skills and experiences to become professionals able to integrate seamlessly into the global market and, we hope, equipped to tackle our global social, economic, and environmental challenges.
Hoe wij aan de SDG's werken
Having signed the SDG Charter in 2019, we are committed to working towards the goal of a sustainable, just and inclusive society. Our responsibility in contributing to the Goals goes further than what we teach our students. It’s about the contribution of our research, the way we operate our campus and the way we behave towards each other. We are endeavouring to bring the SDGs to life throughout all our activities.

Sustainability is integrated in all our curricula. We educate our students to have an open mind and be committed to continued growth and development, both as responsible professionals and as people. In the institute several professorships have a dedicated focus on sustainable developments. As a knowledge institute, this enables us to create a maximum and lasting impact.
The domains covered by the BUas educational programmes (leisure and events, tourism, hotel and facility, games and media, logistics and built environment) are key contexts of social, environmental and economic processes in society, and in all these areas it should be our ambition to discover, together with students, how to strive for sustainability. BUas curricula already involve a wide variety of content which have relevance for the SDGs. Alongside education, our research activity at BUas focuses on providing innovative solutions to the global challenges of our times. And in terms of operations across our campus, several impactful sustainability-focussed initiatives have already been undertaken, with many more planned. In short, there is a lot happening within our institution to already support the Goals. A BUas-wide SDG inventory is underway in 2021 which will shine a spotlight on our strengths in this area, as well as seeking to identify opportunities for building on these in the future, so that we can be transparent and accountable regarding our societal contribution in all areas of activity.
