Organisatie Omschrijving

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinates the implementation of the SDGs in the Netherlands.

The Dutch government wants to promote sustainable economic growth in developing countries, and to improve stability, security and the protection of human rights in the world. The development cooperation policy of the Netherlands focusses on four important themes: security and law and order, water, food security and sexual and reproductive health and rights. You can find the results of the Dutch development policy here.

In the Dutch implementation of the SDGs, the point of focus is the cooperation between ministries and social actors (such as companies and civil society organizations). The Dutch government maps  the implementation of the SDGs in the Netherlands, and visualizes what action must be taken to achieve the goals in 2030. In addition, the Dutch government keeps an overview of the ongoing social initiatives on issues covered by the different goals. An overview of these initiatives can be found at SDGNederland.nl.

In addition to the national implementation of the SDGs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports to the UN on the progress of the SDG implementation in the Netherlands. In July 2017, the Kingdom of the Netherlands -  presented its first Voluntary National Review (VNR) to the UN at the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in New York.
